The simple answer to the question, “How can I be saved?” is a sincere belief in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and His resurrection from the dead.
Romans 10:9 says,
“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
As you read on, I pray that God will touch your heart, and that you will turn from your sins, and come to believe in Jesus Christ. I pray that you will know how much Jesus Christ loves you, and that you will give your life to Him. I pray that today is the day of your salvation, and that today God gives you a new heart. I pray that you will be born again, and that you come into the family of God. I pray that I will see you in heaven, and that you will spend eternity with your loving Creator who has been calling out to you for your entire life (Acts 17:26,27).
Here are four verses from the book of Romans that give a clear picture of the gospel message.
Romans 3:23- for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
Romans 6:23- For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 5:8- But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:9,10- that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
A couple questions:
First, what is sin? Sin is anything that contradicts the character of God. For example, if God is truth than every lie is sin. No matter the size of the lie, or the situation in which the lie was used, every little white lie is sin. A quick list of a few sins are lying, stealing, murder, adultery and the such (Look at Exodus 20, and then at Matthew 5:21-30 for more detail on sin).
Next, are you a sinner? Well, have you ever told even the smallest lie, or “borrowed” something that didn’t belong to you, and never gave it back? Have you ever lusted in your heart for someone other than your spouse? Have you ever been so mad at someone you just wanted hurt them? I know we have all sinned in these areas, and many others because we have a fallen, sinful nature. The truth is we have all sinned, and we all fall short of the glory of God.
This brings us to the glorious truth described in these scriptures:
“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8),
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16),
“…the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7)
You see God must punish sin because he is a just judge that cannot turn a blind eye to sin and wickedness, but his love for every person He has ever created is so intense, and so amazing, that he has a made a way for us to be forgiven and redeemed from our sins.God is just and the justifier (Romans 3:26) It is the amazing love and grace of God, that although we do not deserve anything but death and hell as a punishment for our sinful existence, because of His amazing love for you and me, He came down to the earth and made payment for our sins through the sacrifice of His perfect, sinless Son, Jesus Christ. (For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us. -2 Corinthians 5:21).
God loves you and I so much he came down to earth and finished the work of our salvation as he pinned Himself to the Cross. God came down as a man, lived a sinless life undeserving of any punishment whatsoever, but took the punishment of death that you and I deserve upon Himself. That all who would believe and put their faith in Jesus Christ would be forgiven their sins, and those sins would be washed away. All you have to do to be saved is turn from your sins (repent), believe, and put your trust in Jesus Christ. It is that simple.
God loves you personally, and takes no pleasure in death of any kind (2 Peter 3:9). God wants you to come to Him, and know how much He loves you. God wants to bring you into His glorious kingdom, and spend eternity with you. God so desperately wants to reconcile you, and all, to Himself that he gave his only, perfect Son to be brutally tortured and killed so that we might be saved. But God gives each person a choice in the matter of salvation and eternity. Will you humble yourself and come to God? Will you turn from your sin, and come to your loving Creator? Will you believe in your heart, and give your life to Jesus Christ?
The choice is yours, but how sorrowfully foolish to pass on God’s gracious offer. I pray that you will come to Jesus, and the love He has for you. I pray that you will turn from sin, believe in Jesus Christ as you Lord and Savior, be saved from eternal condemnation, and be welcomed into the family of God as His child. Even the angels in heaven will rejoice in heaven if you do so today.
I know God hears the prayers of His people. May God Bless you. -Cory
