Hey everyone, we are going to be “Presenting Jesus in Mendo” starting Saturday 7/13. I will be leading a study in the life and character of Jesus Christ as we go through the Gospel of John at the Community Center of Mendocino every Saturday night at 6:30. We’re going to meet in the beautiful Curry Community Room. The whole community is invited, and I love to see old friends, church family, and many others from every walk of life attend as we look at the most amazing person in the history of the world. We’ll have free coffee and some snacks too. Hope to see you there!!
Well, as many of you know, Danielle and I have found out that we will be having our first child sometime around the end of this year. I have been overwhelmed with joy, a bit stunned by the wonderful news, and in total awe of the goodness of our God. We can’t wait to welcome the newest addition of our family into our lives, and are already very much in love with the little person God is knitting together in Danielle’s womb.
Last night, I called and broke the news to my dad, who was so happy and blessed (just as Danielle’s father was), and we talked about just how good our Lord is. Not only has God saved me from sin and death by offering His own Son up for my sins, but now he continues to pour out His love and grace in my life. God has redeemed and restored me from a broken-down loser, and made me new. He has given me life, His Spirit, eternity in heaven, and then the most wonderful wife, wonderful family in Christ, and now a child. As my father told his Pastor, If God continues to be so good, and bless me so much, I won’t be able to take it.
As Danielle and I have been processing this wonderful news, and letting reality sink in, we have realized how awesome God is, and that He hears our prayers. We have been praying for a baby, and God has heard us. We just thank God, and know that every good gift comes down from our wonderful Father in heaven.
With all that, as I read my Bible this morning, I just happened to be in Psalm 139. As I read through the Psalm my heart, and eyes, began to well up as I thought about this little person that God is forming, and how much our Father loves this little child. I will leave you with the verses that really touched my heart this morning,
“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.” (Psalm 139:13-18 NKJV)
God bless you all, and thank you Jesus for your love, grace, and for the child you have given us! -Cory
Our new church building has opened here at Calvary Chapel Fort Bragg! We had our first service this past sunday as Pastor Kevin taught through Matthew 18 on being converted as a little child, and forgiveness. It was a very blessed time, and we are all very excited to see what the Lord is going to in the future (if he doesn’t come back real soon). Please be praying for us as a whole that we would shine the light of Jesus, and share His love with the community around us. God has already blessed us so much, and we hope we can bless Him back by glorifying Him with how we use the new building He has given us.
And if you live on the Mendocino Coast please come join us some time! We teach through the Bible verse by verse in order to take in the full counsel of God, and spend some time worshipping Jesus as part of our regular church services. We have services on Sunday at 10 am, Sunday at 6:30 pm as well as on Wednesday at 7 pm all in our new church building (formerly known as the Bowling Alley) at 900 N Main St. Fort Bragg, CA. Hope to see you there! -Cory
