Then Moses said to Korah, “Hear now, you sons of Levi: Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the work of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the congregation to serve them;  and that He has brought you near to Himself, you and all your brethren, the sons of Levi, with you? And are you seeking the priesthood also?  -Numbers 16:8-10
I may be speaking to myself only, but the lesson here is this: Do not despise the perceived “small things”. Be so grateful that Jesus has called us out of the darkness and brought us near to Him, and given us the honor of serving Him in normal, day to day life. Don’t let self-ambition and envy creep into our hearts under the banner of service to the Lord, but be content to lay down our lives day by day with thanksgiving, joy, and contentment. And remember we are all bent towards being self-absorbed, and a little Korah lives inside each one of us. Be careful to watch for any signs that this might be happening our hearts, and put to death that little Korah immediately.
